How many points do you get for your mom telling you you look like an eighteenth century hooker in your corset? And how many for wearing your fangs?

1000 pts for wearing the clothes to mark how you feel, not shape what others think! I respect gothism in that it's a rejection of mainstream values. Speaking only from what I know, there's an old bushdoof saying... "Dance to express, not impress"... an awesome concept which can be applied from the mental to the clothing context. The beauty inside cannot help but surface on the outside; that is why ironically bushdoofers are cool for being humbly unchic. whatever they're wearing, if they are wearing.
relax, be yourself!... cus you might just learn to love yourself!

Whilst I agree with bender, along the lines of 'do not try to be anything, just be' I thought of a few things to add to the score chart.
20 points for drinking snakebite black +10 for snakebite black 'venom'
How many points do you get if you see a goth standing in direct sunlight?

One should never try to dress like everyone else, but that don't mean you should try to be different to everyone else, just ware whateva you want to where, devalop your own style, don't copy someone else. Personaly i hate nothing more than being catagorized. Anyone who has seen how i dress on a day to day basis will know exactly what i mean...

"Dance to express, not impress" - I like that!
Most people catagorize themselves by wearing what they choose to wear. Your look is the best way of signalling to other people what you're like, and makes you a more accepted part of that community. It's why goths, punks, cyberpunk, crusties, businessmen, whatever all look alike. If I turned up at a squat party in a smart suit people wouldn't go near me, if I wore hemp clothes and dreadlocks they'd be more open. It's the way it goes.
so... +100 points for trendsetting - wearing something new that which your friends start wearing within a week.

don't forget, as we all have oral fixations/piercings- 100 points for every time someone asks "DID THAT HURT?" 100 points if you have a needle in your pocket and you say, "no, come here, i'll show you!" while wacing it like a banner

How many points is it when parents see you walking and they pull their children out of the way and back behind them? That happens to me all the time. Or how many points when a cop accuses you of being a baby eating satanist? Or when people see you coming and cross the street a block ahead of you?
And I'm not even Goth..............

Hellcat, that's a really bothersome situation that I can be safely extrapolated to all firetwirlers' experiences in general. Neanderthal Jocks driving by, offering demeaning comments and grunts of testosterone are sometimes the response to a firetwirler's individuality. A classic from a recent sat night was "Why don't you join a circus!" I guess it's up to us not to allow the ugliness to stick to us. I'd like to have a teflon spirit, yes please! it's reassuring at least, to share the burden with other HoP peeps.

Trying to resist sending lots of bogan hummour on to the board, me and some friends used to run site on Bogans and mullets. Don't get me wrong bogans aren't bad they are a part of aussie culture, however they are still classic. Every aussie has bogan tendancies but there is nothing like a true bogan!!! Desciption of a bogan: Loud, grouse, flannel wearing, Jimmy barnes loving , drinking, smoking, footy club membership card holding, Holden driving, mullet headed fan of Merrick and Rosso. Occassionally a man child, but always a wanker. "a bogans idea of public transport is a ride home in either the back of the a police car or the boose bus" Ten things that make you a bogan: 10. A Minaro 9 A house in the western suburbs 8 A house in the suburbs with really bad lawn ornaments 7 Poor Hygiene 6 Plenty of booze 5 Cold Chisel and Men at Work CD's 4 Acid Wash Jeans 3 A beanie 2 A true love of every aussie sport (but mostly footy) 1 THE MULLET

wow. creepy collective unconscious and all. me and a friend were developing a game we call GothPoints, that works sorta like fireboy's idea. the idea being that if you get over 100 points, youre officially goth (spot the pisstakers in the corner)
so far we only got to: 5 points for dogcollar, minus 5 if its pink or purple. 2 points per piercing (theyre too common) 10 points per Bauhaus CD. 15 points if you openly dismiss Bauhaus as too popular. 10 for the Brian Molko haircut.

LOL, Rozi, i love the poem generator! "i am a barn, creaking, creaking..."
As for the goth game, I recall thinking one day:
stage one: "everyone is staring at me "
stage two: "everyone is staring at me "
stage three: "why isn't anyone staring at me? .... oh, i'm wearing normal clothing, right..."

This was my poem from the poem generator:
darkest betrayal
I am doomed here, bound to blackness: hurtling through this bitter silence, heart so bleeding and black.
this darkness so severed, a surreal void, hurled away;
yet I wish for your blood so vital.
How pleasant.. erm... fluffy bunnies and flowers and pot pourri and rainbows... oops sorry have I just spoiled the thread with all those happy things?

its fantastic! I might refer this to my ex boyfriend when he needs to write some lyrics... (hes in a death metal band) and while i love the music, his lyrics are VERY similar!
My gothic poem: "Untitled" Around, all around, the sinister creatures gather. My dread grows as the angry hand of Heaven falls against my heart. It wounds me, and darkly my essence drips to the thirsty earth. In numbness I dance while death hovers close. Now alone, my cry of mercy falls upon wailing eyes.
