I lost the transition b/n my weaves too, stupid insane winters

But I did learn to do numchuck type series. Spinning back...kinda throw it forward and do elbow wrap and then the other way into wrapping around my forearms into butterfly. so now must learn it the other way. And opposite and other way opposite

Yes! I just got the 5-beat BTB this morning! It could use some polishing, but I can't say I'm a big fan of the behind the back moves so far. It may be because I made sock poi last night (I've been using tennis balls on strings with loops or stick handles), which are a lot easier to work with; my planes are much, much better looking with the socks. Good times.

That's exactly the point I'm at right now; I can get it, but my right hand (the off hand) always loses it... The other day I had tied a knot right in the middle of the string; being able to visualize it seemed to make it easier to sustain an isolation, so I think I'm going to try that again.

constant smooth clean isolations are very very difficult

isolations are different to other familys of moves. a lot of things once you understand them and practise them a bit, they are nailed.

but i've found isolations require constant work to keep them tight.

Haha, you'll get very accustomed to that feeling! Learning a new poi move is 99% "That's friggin' impossible!" and 1% "Oh... now I see..."

I've been doing poi for all of about two days now (my current poi are socks although I have a set of kevlar poi coming), so I'm tickled pink with myself that I figured out the reverse 3 beat weave in a few hours! Basically for me it came down to doing about three or four spins of the forward 3-beat, then stopping and going over my pattern and letting my body just follow through with the pattern it already knows (albeit in the backwards direction). Now I'm working on getting into the pattern directly.

Next will probably be trying to figure out how to turn my body while spinning poi (hell of a lot harder than it looks!). For now, though, I'm pleased with myself.

ETA: Woohoo!!! Now I know the 5-bt and reverse!! (not BTB tho, that's for later. Seriously.)
