So you wanna learn double staff?
1) get two staffs to practise with. Possibly you aready have one, now you need two. Any bits of metal or wooden tube will do.
Double staffs? long or short or matchsticks? Throwing, spinning, contact or something completely different? The staffs you choose will depend on what type of manipulation you want to do. Light and short for throws and fast spinning, medium sized to try a bit of everything, or long and heavy to make contact easier.
Practise any pattern first with your 'bad' hand. Then with your good hand. If you're having trouble starting a pattern, start up your 'bad' hand first and then bring in your good hand. (then try it the otherway around.)
Learning with your bad hand first will help your dominant hand learn 'for free' as it were, because your brain transfers some of the learning over to the otherside of your body automatically. Win.

Still trying to master The Steve, Fishtails, Halo Roll, and the Conveyer Belt. 
I'll go onto double staff when I feel I am good enough with contact! Although I feel that I am going to be quite addicted to a single long contact staff for quite some time!

I wasn't sober... so I'm denying all knowledge of said vow! But I did get myself a staff, and I haven't been doing much poi since then... I've been mucking about with contact staff, I hurt all over now, but it's good
