I love my hoops as much as I love poi and staff and I noticed there was a few other hooping hoppers out there. So I thought HOP needed a hooping thread for us to chat about tricks and share our love for hoops.
I have been hooping for quite awhile now and have mastered quite a few tricks but I still havn't figured how to flick it up off the ground and move it up my legs. I can get it from my knees up but I saw this chic at the a circus and she had the hoops all on the ground and was bringing them up her legs one by one. It looked awesome.
I've got an idea of what I gotta do but havn't quite got it. I was wondering if anyone could give me any tips on this?
Thanks
majik
Happy Hooping!

Oh, you're going to have to wait until RBM gets back to the country. She'll tell you all her tricks.

I'm only a beginner. I can make it go round.

You can send the rain this way if you want we're always needing it in Oz. As far as making one there are many different ways. Check out hooping.org there are heaps of forums on this subject there. The easiest way is to use 3/4 irrigation pipe and irrigation fittings. Then wrap it in colourful/sparkly tape. Size is to personal preference. Happy Hooping!

yay, we have made some gorgeous hoops and enthused a whole office of pooks to play with them

I have discovered though, that on moving hoop away from my hips, all the wiggle goes out of me and I look suddenly silly. I think it's a pat your head and rub your tummy type thing

NYC, your vids are the beez kneez

That video was amazing. I have a few hoops of varying size that I was trying to juggle in and out of each other, but that guy gave me some good ideas

Hey kidz ... so nice to see the hoop love growing.

I've got nothing real productive to add today - just blessing the thread. I did, however, hoop for two hours in the park yesterday listening to my iPod. Spring is coming!!!!

Hey Ado-p. How's life treating you?? When are you coming back to NYC so I can give you your engagement hoop? Or am I gonna have to lug my butt over there??

*Franticly makes throat slashing, faux pas avoiding motion with finger*

You should lug your butt out there. UK needs HOOPS.

*doesn't understand the funny American man's flapping*

I have a cupboard full of hoops, and no time to wiggle with them at the moment
Maybe if I moved the breakables I could do it in my room...

I learnt lots of new tricks when NYC was here though, and Bluecat was getting all fancy combining two hoops with his poi

A favour to ask of you Reagan - can I play with a fire hoop if I make it out for PDF and promise to practice lots before and tie my hair up and stuff? Please?

Fire hoops!!! OK, then, I've actually written a thread on how to make fire hoops here - last summer. Let me look it up. It's probably hidden in a confusingly titled thread like "How to Make a Fire Hoop" or something.

As for whether you might play with it - NYC's right - I'd probably force it on you even if you didn't ask, but I so appreciate you asking nicely. And YES - you MUST wear your hair up and covered. I've singed my locks too many times already (although, honestly, I like my hair a little mussed.)

It's quite scary, actually the first time you do it. Despite having been spinning fire poi for two years, I was terrified the first time I lit the hoop. But it's exhilirating and oh so sexy. OK - I'm rambling. Let me go find that thread .....

my hoop (Holly) has a new purpose in life
she's taken up residence in our office and whenever it all gets a bit much for someone, they stop what they're doing, move the furniture out of the way and have a good hoopy-wiggle.

Instantly cheering stuff - nothing fancy but can't help but make you smile

so an extra thank you to Reagan from all the postgrads at the CTVM.
