Monkey Fist Knot??

What's a monkey fist not, how are they used??
Also, I've done poi using lamp oil and I'm interested in trying kero or coleman's, which is better any suggestions??

A monkey's fist is a knot used to weight the end of a rope

This isn't a great looking site, but it works well enough, it's what I used to tell me how to tie one for my practise poi

I tried the monkey fist knot out of 8 feet of kevlar rope. It used up every bit of it besides about 2 or 3 inches.

Monkey fist knots are needy. I recommend unless you want that oh-so-cool effect of that ball of fire, you should get a few weights instead of making the moneky fist knot.
