no, actually, i was asking if any one had any basic points on unicycling that they could share to help me out. i've been checking out unicycle.uk.com, and its got loads of stuff, and i'm really keen to buy one and learn.. but i'm not sure about getting the right one. i'm 6 foot with an inside leg of about 35 and a bit and weigh about 13 stone, so would a basic 24" trainer do ok?

Err what's a unicycle. Is it a metaphor for something to do with poi porn?

im about 6'1" and found the 24inch easiest to learn on - any smaller and its a bit awkward cos your legs are too big.

do a search on unicycling - its been discussed a few times, people having probs learning have posted before.
dont know anything about the UK unicycle market, but a basic stainless steel wheel and frame is fine to learn on and ride around generally.

if you have any probs, charles and onewheeldave (off hand, cant recall who else) could also help.

actually upon reflection, i think there is a 'unicycle roll call' thread in 'other toys, in which you can prob find someone else UK based.

unicycle.uk.com is a fantastic store run by a guy who really knows unicycles (Roger Davies)- it's got a free phone no. so you can ask Rogers advice.

If you want something really good at a budget price check the various nimbus's in the off road and freestyle sections of his site (£120-160 ish).

I totally recomend a 24" wheel with a fat tyre, great for off road and also for just riding around on.

ps, if you want further dialogue on this I'd recommend starting a new thread in the 'other toys' section and call it something like 'newbie unicycle advice'.

This would be a useful thread for others interested in getting into unicycling, whereas a thread called poi porn will only attract the attention of seedy characters like myself.

Although I think Unicyclist.com might be a bit much for those just learning to ride. Not for long of course, but it's kinda like someone whose just picked up some poi going through this bulletin board, it can be a bit overwhelming.

And yeah, I agree, commuting is not for most beginners, especially as you could hurt yourself and others as lack of control tends to do on the footpath/cycle lanes...
