Why are some Mac users so arrogant?

I don't want to turn this into a PC Vs Mac thread, so please don't.
What I want to know is why some Mac users are so arrogant and obsessed with their computers. I don't know any other computer users who are as obsessed as some mac users - and I know a lot of geeks!
I have a mate who is obsessed with his and will bring it up and any avaliable opportunity and even picked a fight with me to defend his precious Mac! Wouldn't surprise me if he wanted some mac icecream.
So please, someone, can you shed some light as to why people worship something which is essentially a tool? Does one worship a spanner? No! (although this guy claims Macs are more important to civilisation than spanners!)

Hey, you think us Mac users are bad? Try talking to a linux-head for a while, they're just like ex-smokers in that evangelical "I used to do something bad and now I'm being better" way, at least Mac users have always had a better OS..

There's elitists on both sides to anything. There are arrogant PC users as well as arrogant Mac users. The smart ones use their respective systems and shut the hell up Other examples of tribal elitism also include Ford vs. Holden Star Wars vs. Star Trek Poi vs. Staff
