Ok, I'm after a bit of assistance from people who live in or have been to Australia and/or New Zealand.

I'm looking to have a few weeks down that way at someo point next year, the only problem being, what time of year to travel??

Is it noticeable cheaper during the off peak season? If so, what is the off-peak season?

Ideally I'd rather not be there in mid summer, I'd melt in a drippy pool on the steps coming off the plane, I don't want to have to explain that to an irate pilot!

Also, let me know what places you'd suggest that I visit so I can try and organise some kind of list of to do's.

Cheers peeps!

Well temp wise you wouldn't want to head here untill march/april when its cooling down. Having said that though, alot of the festivals and events happen in srping and summer, like now.
Unless you want to go to Darwin, then the best time of year is june/july/august. Because thats when its cooler and more things are on.
as for places to visit, you've got to visit everywhere! its a beautiful country! I'd say visit the Brisbane/Sunshine coast/ Goldcoast areas, Melbourne, Adelaide and Peth. But if you can, drive some of the way to see Australia's beauty and every changing landscapes.

What sort of stuff do you want to see and do?
Is it a "visit lots of lovely hoppers and spin across Australia" or see the odd quirly Australian landscapes and animals.
Or party at festivals down the East coast. (Noone come to Perth to party )
It does get stupidly hot here though
Maybe see you in Perth

If going to Tasmania the festivals and thingies happen in springy and summerish sorts of times and that's when the weather's nicest too, though it's been going mental lately. I don't know if you'd be getting this far down but if you're planning to I'd suggest doing the Tasmanuian part of your trip in early December or late January, also times apart from the middle of summer near then. Then come and visit me in Ulverstone and the tribe of spinners in Deloriane.

Ok, so a rough start on things to do:

1. I have to do Sydney and Melbourne, I have rellies there, I can't justify flying to the other side of the planet and not visiting them.

2. Pester as many lovely HoPpers for s etc

3. I'd like to see the barrier reef, and do a bit of touristy stuff (taking photos of the locals, that kinda thing)

4. Buy something from Home of Poi in person!

Darn! Why does Australia have to be so big!!

Whitsundays..now that brings back memories. Very expensive though.

Great ocean road is a great suggestion...Queenscliff, Lorne, Torquay...all those beautiful places!

Brissie has I think the most active spin and reenactment scene in Australia so thats got to be one destination. Plus it has some lovely hoppers to stay with......

Lots of coast to play on and rainforrest to see and lots of summer parties happening too.

If I was travelling to Australia as a spinner I reckon thats where I would head. Ask some of the spinners who have been over. James ( ow) (mr confused) did a fair run of Austrlia and beyond so maybe PM him...

Go to the South Island in NZ. It doesn't get to hot there and the scenery is beautiful. Also the few humans you'll meet, know how to spin! September till March is the best time. Juggling festival is in March in Raglan (North Island).

So, are we gonna have a UK hoppers meet up in Australia then Durbs, I'm reckoning its going to be more likely that I'm going to be there May/June ish.

Apparently, I'm going to go bungee jumping when I'm in NZ too!

I wouldn't ask James, He's off travelling the world at the moment as well!!

His trip may end up a three year circumnavigation of the globe, from what he told me...
