Toys for girls and Toys for boys *rated*

Is there any such thing?
I mean we have certainly seen male spinners using Poi over the extent to merely use them as an excuse to wiggle their backsides and instead of wearing lingerie and as far as I heard there are female spinners out there, who can play with (double) sticks and are confident in there femalehood
But we (recently) had the question here: Are Poi for girls only?
Therefore my question to you: Is there any toy at all that can be attached to a certain sex(ual behaviour)?
Enjoy
... errm should I attach a poll to this? I mean I could now list every individual toy and ask: "for girls, or for boys (only)... whatya reckon?" *ponders*
The fast version:
(Fire/ Acrylic) Balls
Candles
Clubs
Devil Sticks
Diabolo
Hoops
Fans
Nun-Chakkus
Poi
Staff (doubles)
Swords
In alphabetical order, please feel free to me if I forgot one - you have indications?
[edit] thanx for the spank - how on earth could I forget fans and acryllics (sic)

you better add acrylics before Durbs checks in! and fans Ummm as a more or less non-participant, it's my impression that things like hoops are more widely used by girls than boys and things like staff are more widely used by guys. Not that they're exclusive domain of just they appeal more to them. Is this a valid impression? Please correct me if I'm wrong!

nope i don't think there are any boys toys and girls toys in the 'circus' world. Traditionaly on the other hand things may well be different, eg with Poi. sure we may love the sight of girl's hooping more than boys but it doesn't mean that they are better at it or that boys shouldn't do it as its all down to opinion.

Hooping I considered pretty girlie, btu I might widen my horizon, vids please...
Fans also are very movement dependant and look sexy on girls... I have a set, but my performance is generally more martial-art-like...

I'm a guy and my favorite toys are poi and hoops. Roller skates too.

Some toys are certainly more gender oriented than others, but that doesnt mean someone isnt doing it.
I dont know how it is in the rest of the world, but here it seems like Poi is actually popular with guys, with a steady female following as well. In fact, its the only one I can think of thats really not gender defined at all.
Never seen a female contact juggler, meteor spinner, or fire whipper, although i'm sure they exist somewhere. This isnt a really hot place for performance arts.

never seen a female contact juggler? Man, you definately seriously missed out on some beauty... I can imagine that guys do hoops - and they do not even have to be gay Same applies to fans and candles... I certainly can imagine girls do all the rest, including swords - maybe it's the same thing vice versa? It's not so much about the gender that performs, but about the attitude of the gender observing... do I make sense here? Trust (sic!)... any vids for god sake? Hooping guys on stage! Nobody supports that?

poi and staff are my faves.. as well as my fire-eating wands.
the only thing i see more women using than men are hoops.
but i will say that it's much much more enjoyable to watch the ladies spinning hands down!

"but i will say that it's much much more enjoyable to watch the ladies spinning hands down!"
its always better watching the ladies perform, they brings a little something sexy to their performance that guys just dont/cant bring.
the only hooping ive ever done is a mellow hoop with large hoops, between 5 and 8 feet round. i'm partial to poi, devil stix, and still struggling with diablo. thinking about contact juggling some though...

*raises hand as [albeit pretty bad] female meteor spinner* I always thought fire whip was a quite female thing, in a kinda dominatrix context
How 'bout flags. Now I've seen guys spin flags, hell, I've taught guys to spin flags, but it is a little bit girly really isn't it :P

ouch - flags where you have your thoughts, Tom But IMO flags (as Poi) are definitely for both genders, as is staff - hence I haven't seen a girl do sword - which I would consider x-tremely sexy.

i want to learn real sword.i do have an old sword that needs fixing and is a bit crap .i also have a white oak Bokken, a Bo, two tonfa's, and a pair of Sai's but i would love a pair of hook swords. what i do need is someone to help teach me. there is only a certain amount of things you can learn just by picking them up on your own and i tend not to get them out when the kids are around.

rrrreaow - girls with swords Be aware: fire/ swords have to be treaded differently - i.e. never hold a fire-sword blade down - one for the "nono list" If you watch some easterns (martial arts) and medieval type of movies, you may get a few ideas already - other than that I can only recommend DVD's and one of the two EJC's coming up
