The lovely poem and story thread

Forgive me but I can't find a "lovely poems" - thread, must have overseen it...

So here's a brand new shiny one

The year 2006 is the year of the deserts (namib, gobbi, etc) - this is creating a certain image and a certain feeling in out hearts and minds... "feeling deserted"..."Loss" of space to live, of "habitat"... ?!?

Therefore - and to stay "juicy" in heart and mind - I'd like to start this thread with this one:

Friendship and Angels

Imagine there is a bank that credits your account each morning with $86.400. It carries over no balance from day to day, every evening it deletes whatever part of the balance you failed to use during the day.

What would you do?
Draw out every cent of course!!!
Each of us has such a bank.
It's name is TIME.

Every morning it credits you witch 86.400 seconds.
Every night it writes off, as lost, whatever of this you have failed
to invest. It carries over no balance. It allows no overdraft.

Each day it opens a new account for you.
Each night it burns the remains of the day.
If you fail to use the day's deposits, the loss is yours.
There is no going back.
There is no drawing against the "tomorrow".
You must live in the present on today's deposits.
Invest it so as to get from it the outmost in health, happiness, and success!
The clock is running. Make the most of today...

To realize the value of ONE YEAR, ask a student who failed a grade.
To realize the value of ONE MONTH, ask a mother who gave birth prematurely.
To realize the value of ONE WEEK, ask the editor of a weekly newspaper.
To realize the value of ONE HOUR, ask the lovers who are waiting to meet.
To realize the value of ONE MINUTE, ask the person who missed the train.
To realize the value of ONE SECOND, ask a person who just avoided anaccident.
To realize the value of ONE MILLISECOND, ask the person who won a silver medal in the Olympics.


Treasure every moment that you have! And treasure it more because youshared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time.
And remember that time waits for no one.

It doesnt interest me what you do for a living.
I want to know what you ache for, and if you dare to dream of meeting your hearts longing.
It doesnt interest me how old you are, I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love,for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.
It doesnt interest me what planets are squaring your moon.I want to know if you have touched the centre of your own sorrow,if you have been opened by life's betrayels or have become shriveled and closed from fear of further pain.I want to know if you can sit with pain, mine or your own, without moving to hide it or fade it or fix it.
I want to know if you can be with joy, mine or your own,if you can dance with wildness and let ecstacy fill you to the tips of your fingers and toes without cautioning us to be careful, to be realistic, to remember the limitations of being human.
it doesnt interest me if the story you are telling me is true, I want to know if you can disappoint another to be true to yourself; if you can bear the accusation of betrayel and not betray your own soul;if you can be faithless and therefore trustworthy.
I want to know if you can see beauty, even when its not pretty everyday, and if you can source your own life from its presence.
I want to know if you can live with failure, yours and mine,and still stand at the edge of the lake and shout to the silver of the moon, "Yes!"
It doesnt interest me to know where you live or how much money you have. I want to know if you can get up after the night of grief and despair, weary and bruised to the bone, and do what needs to be done to feed the childeren.
It doesnt interest me who you know or how you came to be here.I want to know if you will stand in the centre of the fire with me and not shrink back.
It doesnt interest me where or what or with whom you have studied. I want to know what sustains you, from the inside when all else falls away. I want to know if you can be alone with yourself, and if you truly like the company you keep in the empty moments.

Awwwwww that was such a nice one! Blu = hero!!!

But for you folks - I can see clearly now! YOU are NOT interested in beauty....

or... may it be that yuou just don't know any beautyful peoms or stories ??? :cries:

Another serve from me:

Maybe God wanted us to meet the wrong people before meeting the right one
so that when we finally meet the right person, we will know how to be
grateful for that gift.

Maybe when the door of happiness closes, another opens, but often times we
look so long at the closed door that we don't see the one which has been
opened for us.

Maybe the best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing
with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best
conversation you've ever had.

Maybe it is true that we don't know what we've got until we lose it, but it
is also true that we don't know what we've been missing until it arrives.

Don't go for looks; they can deceive. Don't go for wealth; even that fades
away. Go for someone who makes you smile because it takes only a smile to
make a dark day seem bright. Find the one that makes your heart smile.

There are moments in life when you miss someone so much that you just want
to pick them from your dreams and hug them for real. Dream what you want to
dream; go where you want to go; be what you want to be, because you have
only one life and one chance to do all the things you want to do.

May you have enough happiness to make you sweet, enough trials to make you
strong, enough sorrow to keep you human, enough hope to make you happy.

The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they
just make the most of everything that comes along their way.

Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss and ends with a tear.

The brightest future will always be based on a forgotten past, you can't go
on well in life until you let go of your past failures and heartaches.

When you were born, you were crying and everyone around you was smiling.
Live your life so that when you die, you are the one smiling and everyone
around you is crying.

I have a nice poem

I ran up the curtains, I closed the stairs,

Desiderata

I like this one coz I think its really clever...

There was a young bard from Japan,
Whos limericks never did scan,
When they said it was so
he replied ,"Yes I know,
but I made a rule to myself as to fit as many words into the last line as I possibly can!"

Interview with God

I dreamed I had an interview with God.

"Come in" God said. "So, you would like to interview Me?"
"If you have the time," I said.
God smiled and said: "My time is eternity and is enough to do everything; What questions do you have in mind to ask me?"

"What surprises you most about mankind?"

God answered:
"That they get bored of being children, are in a rush to grow up, and then long to be children again.
"That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health.
"That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live neither for the present nor the future."
God's hands took mine and we were silent for awhile and then I asked...

"As a parent, what are some of life's lessons you want your children to learn?"

God replied with a smile:
"To learn that what is most valuable is not what they have in their lives, but who they have in their lives.
"To learn that there are persons that love them dearly, but simply do not know how to express or show their feelings.
"To learn that money can buy everything but happiness.
"To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it totally different.
"To learn that a true friend is someone who knows everything about them...and likes them anyway."
"To learn that it is not always enough that they be forgiven by others, but that they have to forgive themselves."

I sat there for awhile enjoying the moment. I thanked Him for his time and for all that He has done for me and my family, and He replied,

"Anytime. I'm here 24 hours a day. All you have to do is ask for me, and I'll answer."

At times it feels this world is hard
And life can be full of pain

i gave this to all my friends. all my poems are dark and they asked me to do a nice one for once i am not that good at nice ones but there you go x
