WHAT is better?? STaff or Poi, i know posing this question on a site that is called home of Poi and hoping for an objective answer obviously wont happen but go ahead and try [Smile]

I have just started with all this stuff, i just bought a poi set and a staff in byron bay bout 2 weeks ago, and love both but i'm leaning towards the staff as my weapon of choice (prolly coz there is less grional injuries with the staff)....

i was hooked on poi for a year and a half, pretty much known around here as some sort of master, not that i am i hate being called one.
havnt really done much poiage for 2 months now since i found a love in my sticks, i have had a stick for over a year and never touched it hardly ever, untill 2 months ago... now i am totally inlove with contact staff.
i am also known to pick up double staff, never really learn stuff with sticks other than contact as i can pick most moves up from stuff i do with poi and club swinging.

i wish you love and joy on your ventures of the flame which ever you choose to do, you know it will be both and then more toys.

i allso love my unicycle... my stilts and loads of other stuff, just learnt to juggle 3 balls [Smile] here goes the next hobby [Tickled]
good luck dude.

Well, I have been a staf user since August last year. And I am totally inlove with my stick. She's just great. But I am doing a show tonight for which i am being paid and I am going to buy poi, so gimme a week and i will let you know. I find I hurt myself to much with poi at the moment.

Seeya,
Joy

I have recently fallen in love with staff after doing poi for just over a year. However, it's been a brutally cold winter (average -22 deg C.) and with the nice 7 foot ceilings I have at my place I don't have much room to practice.

Is it better than poi though? Will let you know when the weather gets warmer. [Smile]

Unfortunately, there is no answer anyone can give you about which is better.

It's like someone saying which is the better music, classical or heavy metal...Just depends on the individual, and the music they've listened to, and their influences etc etc etc.

I prefer staff to poi, but hat is long staffs (1.4 metres), if i was to choose between poi and short staffs, I'd probably go with the poi, even though I'm terirble at poi.

Play around with them both, and with as many different types as you can. You will answer your own question at some point, and then the answer might change later on...

And for future reference, there is an area in bold print at the top of the page when you are posting a topic that says..."Enter your question here before you post".. this is there for a reason. Yes this question has been asked before, countless times, in technical and social.
Please use the search function to revive these threads, and add to them your thoughts and opinions, that way everyone can benefit from not only past experience but add current ones as well.

Thank you....

and to answer your question...
