I'm taking a class on "Stress Management" and I'm finding it quite interesting to assess my stressors (things that cause stress.) All too often we ALLOW things which cause us stress in our lives without realizing that we could do without them. Here's an interesting survey to see where your current stress is coming from: http://wellness.uwsp.edu/Other/stress/sources.htmSome people... actually many people go out of their ways to engauge in activities that cause them stress. Many people stay friends with people that cause them more stress than good. It's interesting to see how you can reduce stress by reducing activities that cause you stress. Sometimes it's surprising how much control we DO have over our lives and happiness. My score was pretty low: Written by:
Events Evaluation Your total score on the events assessment was 18.1 percent. As an aid to you, here is a listing of your scores and the top issues causing your score to be high in each area. Family: 30.0 percent Social: 30.0 percent Individual: 35.0 percent Environment: 37.5 percent Work: 30.0 percent
My two 'moderate' stressors were my health (I've got a cough for the last 6 months) and traffic (dodging taxis every day isn't easy!)
If I really wanted to reduce my stress I guess I should focus on those two stressors.

The course I'm taking is focusing on the fact that becoming stressed is a decision that we make and there is a decent gap between the physical stressor and our biological response to it. And HOW we preceive the stress is sometimes more important than the stress itself.
Kind of an interesting idea.

I would definitely agree with that. I would also theorise that there is a certain amount of "patterning" that goes on in people's lives. You may have experienced similar events in your life, or you may have seen others around you dealing with similar things, and your/their responses and behaviour at that time creates a pattern. In later times you respond the same way to similar events without taking the time to analyse what is going on.

Yeah, that's fair. I work hard, my health and social life has suffered. I need a long vacation.

Explination: I'm still in High School, and in the second last month of an exchange. My parents split while I was here (my mom moves this Friday!) and everything will be new. I'm kinda afraid! Social... hmmm hard to get into relationships, and I get really wrecked up when I fight with those who I love. Individual: social pressures, I suppose, and self-demands that don't get fulfilled. Environment: I hate construction background noise, but love music at all times in the back. Natural light is important. Fresh air everyday is a must. Personal space is also a must.
I never realized the environmental things could give noticable stress, but seems true now that I think about it.

Ok, so maybe I'm a little stressed. But it does make sense... There's a lot to be stressed about. I'm enjoying things at least several times a day, and although chronically exhausted I tend to get some things done each day...
