Yeah, keep your fingers pointing up, and keep your shoulders flexible.
I find too much turning can be dangerous. Not in terms of hitting yourself, just that you rely on turning your body and not allowing or should I say not training your hands and shoulders to do all the work. I think turning too much makes it sloppy, and turns your planes from side to alternating btb wall plane.
5 beat weaves behind the back are silly. I say spend your time practicing other moves.
