Ok, so tell me....is there anything to put on the sidewalk/street to either absorb the oil from spinning, or to make it less slippery? We are often spinning on the sidewalk, or in front of a business, and even though we all "spin out" before we light up, there is always some oil that is left on the street. It's also very slick to perform on...and often times I am just concentrating on not falling!!! Any suggestions??

What fuel are you using?

If you're using lamp oil then it will get slippy.
It shouldn't be too bad if you're using coleman fuel though.

use coleman/white gas instead of lamp oil/parrafin if surface slipperness is a concern.

salt eats away at fat, which, i think, is of a similar molecular construction to kerosene. just get some buckets of stuff, pour some on the ground, and see what works best

I'll have to double check, but bleach and ammonia is the combination used to keep the stages around here non slippery after fire shows. It should work on sidewalks and roads and boobies(the red footed ones) as well.

Pretty much.

If you spin out well, then it'll take longer for the slippiness to become a problem.
But really, the only way you're going to get round it is by switching to coleman gas.

1-2-3.
sand. before you go out throw some down. cat litter? seems chunky for the toe-sies.
socks. not too good for socks though so i double them up or save a pair for after.
rugs. get junky wool ones and clean them with a carpet shampooer once in a while. they're heavy though! (the shampooers _and_ the rugs)

Just a bit of a safety tip, DO NOT mix bleach and ammonia. It releases chlorine gas which is really not good for you. Besides that it's not particularly good for the ground either (neither is salt BTW).

Have you thought about sawdust or cat litter? Those are pretty tried and true "soak up liquid mess" materials which could be swept up afterwards.

I've thought of the cat litter and sand, but haven't tried either (except when I dumped over a big bucket of fuel, I tried to use sand , and it didn't do anything, but turned into oil soaked sand). I also like the carpet idea, to get a big carpet would be easy enough, and a cool one would add some charachter....thanks for the cool ideas. As far as spinning out, I use a bucket...and I spin with the monkey fists....so, even though I use the bucket, there is way more fuel that spits out...I ususally then spin again somewhere away from people or the area just to get that out as well.....
