In New Zealand if you sink the white ball, the other person gets only one shot!

Scandalous! What’s the point!

I have a friend from Kilcool who insists you have sink the black in the same pocket you sunk your last ball in!

Outrageous! What’s that all about?

Any other wierdo’s out there?

Yep - NSW also has the one shot rule... and no penalties like our southern states

And no shooting backwards

Hehehe, can't imagine why, Cantus...

When playing pool, I like to take all the evilest rules from all the versions I've come across and apply them all. Any other way is playing by the wussy rules

And yet you refuse to sink ducks when you're diving.

The duality of polythene....

Not...refuse...exactly. The bubbles warn them and their stubby legs paddle faster than my stubby legs. 'Tisn't fair

the point I beleive is to be a good enough pool player to not require the advantage of two shots

Well what's the penalty for sinking the white ball? You need something to discourage the kids...you know how they are...they need negative reinforcement!

No back table....also a scandal. My grandad's probably turning in his grave...

penalty for sinking the white ball - the next person gets to put the whiteball ANYWHERE they like on the line (but remembering that you can't shoot backwards)

the other penalty is lots of jibes, laughing, pointing and calls of "shot"

what is the penalty in your country for losing a game 7 balls up?

they have a scary amount of gambling in their pubs too. And also in nostralia (as well and too).

Plus they swear on television before 9pm....

It's a shocking part of the world.

In my circles of friends, to run around the pool table 3 times without your pants. ( ...and in the uk that doesn't mean trousers!)

when I say pants I mean no dacks or underdacks

translation: no trousers good sir, and no underpants either

I believe the faster you get it over with, the better, no need to wait til you have an audience

actually most the world plays by one shot except for places like australia, south africa, and other places that like to cheat a lot by telling foreigners they get two shots from a scratch...

I play by the official Brititsh 8 ball pool rules. Any pubs with a pool table who aren't displaying the rules, then the landlord deserves a slap.
I was playing against a south african once and she insisted that because i sank one of her balls she got a free shot, dispite the fact that i had hit and sunk my own ball first and her ball was potted by a renegade rebounding ball. Bloody cheating foreigners.

thats not cheating...pot an opponents ball and it's a foul...free shot if they're snookered UNLESS they fouled first and you claimed a free shot to pot one of their balls.

maybe we should all post our rules...

But in the spirit of the global community... let's keep the scratching, biting and kicking to a minimum....

So then, let's start at the beginning... anyone any preferences for how you rack them up?

That's so unadvantageous to the person who just laughed at whiteball-sinker.

I prefer snooker myself.

Ahem...

A player may legally pocket one or more of their opponents object balls providing the cue ball strikes one of their own group first and providing one or more of their own group are pocketed on the same shot.

(rule 4j from UK 8 ball pool rules)
