As far as Neutral Milk Hotel goes, I liked On Avery Island better than I liked On an Aeroplane... Which is not to say that I didnt like Aeroplane, but (with the exception of "Pree-sisters swallowing a donkey's eye" that one was too strange) I liked Avery better. All good stuff though.

hmm maybe my list is stretching it, but all these people are incredible and vaguely indie -

DeVotchKa, Beirut, Neutral Milk Hotel, Arcade Fire, Sufjan Stevens, Múm, A Hawk and a Hacksaw

besides that, I've recently discovered Klezmer that is as different-sounding as it's ever going to get

Then i met wayne coyne and he was covered in fake blood and we talked about fleetwood mac, and my friend stole a bit of fake blood covered fake snow off his chest

floating my boat at the moment (still, i haven't heard anything new for a while...) the Knife, Sons and Daughters, CSS and Patrick Wolf... (i don't really know if they come under any of the title's genres but i like 'em.)

I get to see The Faint and Gogol Bordello (separately) within the next two weeks!!!! WOOT!

Whats the best live show you guys have seen? Mine's gotta be Depeche Mode, even though Dave had laryngitis and couldnt finish his set. At the time, I was really disappointed, to say the least, but Martin came out and sang a couple songs you dont usually get to hear, and I realized that I saw the band in a way that most people never will, and I count myself lucky.

If you like I could go through my old posts and edit with links to myspace - it isn't that hard to search. just copy/paste the names

Oh I know I know.
It's just if the thread goes any further there will be alot of artist to search through.

People posting praps a link to just one of there suggested bands means only one person has to search one, rather than lots of people searching everything.

This is TOTALLY my thread

I'm a massive fan of the genre. Well. Aswell as everything else. I can't be bothered writing out all of my favourites, but I'd strongly suggest you all go check out Gotye (pronounced "Gore-Ti-Yeah") - http://www.myspace.com/gotye - Independent original aussie music FTW!

Oh, oh. and check out Frou Frou. They're amazing. http://www.myspace.com/froufrou

lol2 Are you referring to the 80s????? Hipsters have been huge in developing the mainstream and supporting the underground since the early 90s lol2

Right now I'm loving:

Silversun Pickups, MGMT, The Toxic Airborne Event, The Big Pink, The Killers, Fleet Foxes, Grizzly Bear, and Cage The Elephant for more recent stuff.
