Here are my hyperlights. This is a quick thread to show you how they work, them in action and the possibilities they have.
There are still a few creases to be ironed out that the creator - Jon (and Peter) does know about such as the software not working in a 64bit OS (due to a driver signing issue) I am therefore running on a virtual machine with XP. 5 knocks together puts them in hibernation mode. This turns them off and allows you to spin for 5 or so seconds and they turn back on, one accelerometer is a bit out so one turns on before the other. This is a fix that can be done through the software (firmware fix)
For everyone that loves brightness here is a quote from Jon
"If we convert them all into Lumens based on the assumption that they're all 30 degree beams (which is probably on the generous side), they're rated like this (in lumens):
Hyperlights: 100 lumens
Aerotech Ultimates: 2.68 lumens
HoP Lightwand: 1.71 lumens
HoP Beamers: 0.985 lumens"
The software at the minute has no GUI that I am aware of, but im sure I did see one in the making. I know nothing about programming really but you get the idea from the screenshots. Its possible to do pretty much anything from a slow 1 minute fade of one colour to the next to setting a strobe 2000 flashes per second. The default settings make them dim to 1/16 of there brightness to reserve battery power and not blind you. Each poi head runs on 2 AAA batteries
Pictures and video are taken on an old panasonic fx8, longest shutter setting (1 second) in the day. One of the pictures shows Flowlights - 2 'air' full brightness setting for comparison. Video has quickly been put together in windows movie maker, music is Lifelike & Kris Menace - Discopolis (Chris Lake Remix)
I can safely say that there is no poi/light head better than these or that will come close to these for a while. They are expensive at £300 but you get what you pay for
(apologies for the forest scarf, its my housemates)
