Good idea : listening to you favorite cds while

I realized that sometimes comments / compliments really make spinning an annoying thing !!!!

Too true. I have lost count of the times I've had to say. Sorry, can't have a conversation with you now as I'm fire dancing.

Good Idea: Warning newbies to keep commets away from your blazing fire chains.

Bad Idea: Not paying attention and seeing your new commets go up in flames

Last time I was spinning in front of 'friends' someone thought it was funny to yell "your hair's on fire" right when I was doing a corkscrew.

Obviously I made a move to try and put my hair out, wrapping the poi right around me and thankfully realized soon enough to unwrap them before I was burned.

It wasn't a funny thing to shout though.
Don't listen to your 'friends' while spinning......

Sometimes when I am spinning fire, before I start, I'll use the booming voice that G-d gave me for the following announcement:

OK, FOLKS! TWO QUICK RULES!

FIRST, STAY AWAY FROM ME WHILE I AM SPINNING. SECOND, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES YELL AT ME THAT I AM ON FIRE, EVEN IF I AM ON FIRE!

Tends to keep the drunks at bay. I always tell my safety that s/he is the only person in the world who I will believe if they scream "you're on fire" and that they are the only person in the world who is allowed to scream that.

Good idea: have some form of liquid refreshment on hand to cool you down after spinning

Bad idea: forget how much you tend to bounce around when you get into your spinning, leap with some exhuberance onto aforementioned refreshment spilling contents, losing footing and generally scaring the bejeebers out of yourself.

there's one in every crowd who yells out "HEY! ONE OF THEM WENT OUT!!" really? why i didnt notice that the ball of fire spinning around my head had wasnt there any more...funny that

Maybe they're talking about something else. Why do you always have to be the centre of attention?

Good idea: have a nice, cool sip of water after you're done spinning.

Bad idea: put white gas in a water bottle identical to the one that actually has water in it.

REALLY bad idea: forget to smell the bottle you're about to take a sip from.

BLEECCCCH!!! I didn't get much in my mouth and instantly rinsed my mouth out thoroughly, but that can't have been very good for me.

wow mikeginny, i wonder about you sometimes.

you never expect water not to be water though. i once picked up a glass of water and took a sip. i don't remember what it was, but it tasted- not like water! damn clear liquids! i think it was in a colored glass, so i couldn't see that it was slightly off clear. plus our water isn't alwasy clear neways... but man i'm scared of ranodm water glasses now!

but fuel? oops!!

and didn't you forget taht you had lit fire poi once?
