I was wondering if there was anyway that the moderators could add a brief explanation of why particular topics are closed. I find it a bit traumatic when topics are closed without explanation.

I have tried to PM moderators to get explanations on why my topics are closed but they refused to answer my PM.

If this HoPs policy, then I'm confused by it's intent.

Since a topic is closed, it's impossible to ask why on that topic, and without any form of communication I find it arbatrary and confusing.

I do understand that the moderators are grossly overworked and underpaid... [Wink] But even a "Guys, please use PM (topic closed)" is better than just finding that a topic has just been ended.

Many topics which violate the HoP guidelines are allowed to thrive while other topics are stopped mid-conversation.

It would also be great if this topic could be a conversation, and not just locked.

It's not my site, it's not my rules, it's not my job, it's just a suggestion.

Thanks!

Have many topics been closed?

Which ones?

I'm not aware of this happening here, but if it is I can fully understand your frustration.

I recently posted on the David Blaine forum and found that whole threads were being arbitrarily removed with no explanation.

I tried to initiate a thread asking why and it got taken off, again with no explanation.

I basically stopped using that forum because of it. It's a waste of my time to work on a thread only for it to dissapear with no explanation.

I am pretty surprised that this happens on HOP, I've always found the moderators to be communicative, helpful and willing to explain their decisions.

It does happen, but mostly I think it is an oversight, or sometimes a feeling that it might even be self-explanatory. Sometimes I think the mods also handle it privately, pm'ing the people who initiated the thread or the part of the discussion that is causing a problem.

It is just NYC with his insatiable need to know [Wink] You are not a Gemini by any chance deary? [Wink]

Actually, I will quietly admit that I sometimes wonder about it too...

So which topics are you referring to NYC?

If you don't get any response from the proper mods then you could try PMing this unofficial one...

He'll reply. Promise.

In fact check your PMs soonish (give me time to write to you first).

Apparently it is a very gemini trait to just need to know every single thing that goes on.

edit for [Wink]

yes, they do seem to be conspicuous in their absence.

Or are they...

It is a little know fact that well over 1500 of the so called 'members' of HoP are actually alternate characters taken on by the moderators. While I have some notion that NYC is not one of them (having actually met Cassandra and knowing that she has met him and trusting her word), I am willing to bet that onewheeldave is in fact a subpersona of some moderator or other. clearly he is trying to misdirect and distract with his post, which is what one might excpect from a moderator in disguise. Rozi and C@antus seem to be suspect as well....

I'm not sure how it happened, but apparently I, vanize, have now been subsumed by the Cassandra persona. This leads me (and evidently some part of Cass) to the conclusion that many so called members out do not in fact fully realize that they are mearly subpersonas of moderators or other heavily posting HoPers.

So far, it has only been established that Cassandra, NYC, C@ntus, and Rosi (presumably in addition to the moderators) are fully independant (or at least dominate) HoP personalities. But even this is without independant confimation. I thought could attest for a few others like Arashi, but not so if I am just a figment of Cass's imagination.

I suggest all of you take a good long look at yourselves in an effort to establish your autonomy.

I feel real, but I guess I could be merely the twisted dream of some moderator.
What can I do to establish that I exist as an independant entity?

Don't ask me - I've only recently discovered I'm a figment of Cass's imagination, and I'm still dealing with that!

Perhaps Cass can tell you...?

Cass... Oh Cass?!?

Agh... where is your prime persona when you need her?!?

It has been replied to! onewheeldave is clearly some sort of authoritarian spin doctor or misinformant. And you have to beleive me because I am part of Cass, and you belive her, don't you?

[umm]

Don't you??? [Love]

(see there, that proves it! Cass uses those love emoticons. Would vanize ever do that if he was acting of his own volition? I think not!)

Hope your eyes are feeling better Malcolm!

I remember when I had an eye infection in High School and I was amazed at how helpless I was without my vision.
