Burning Man Costume

OK. So I leave for BM in 3 days. I have two really cool night costumes that involve lots of blinking lights.

HOWEVER, I need day costumes. I typically wear some speedo-type suit or shorts under a lab coat with goggles, dust mask, and backpack. But this year, I want to do something a bit better. I have this cool Moroccan cloak...

But what else can I do? I have *EVERYTHING* at my disposal...and a budget of about US$300.

I think I am going to look around this year and pay close attention to things I can do. I need to learn to sew... That can be a project for my "gap year" coming up.

I make it a priority in my life, Adya.

I have come to realize, perhaps more today than others, that I live a truly blessed life. I work in my dream job, make enough money to play, and when I do, I play hard. These last couple of months, an entire world of dreams has been opened to me when I got picked for fellowship in San Francisco.

This year's Burn, for me is a victory celebration. Each year, I go and see my good friends from school who I miss so much... And each year, I have to fight, panic, and push to see them all, usually for about 5 minutes each. But now I get to back and live with them, see them whenever I want to, to be part of a family of friends again.

And so I'm pretty nonchalant about this year's Burn. Nothing can ruin it for me, because NEXT YEAR, I am driving out from San Francisco after 2 months of straight preparation...and I'll be ready.

tsk tsk, that's not sunsmart!

If only I still had an ass like that...

OK. So here's my idea this year that occurred to me thanks to Faithinfire, Chelly, and Rougie (who just lost if she's reading this thread )

So the idea is a rainbow-striped kilt/skirt (it may just be a pride flag safety-pinned around my waist), combat boots (that may be a bit tough out there; it's hot...it might have to be some beat-up sneakers), and a top of some sort. I'm thinking a vest or something like that would go well.

What would you suggest. Sparkley?

And I definately need a parasol. Pink? I think pink if I can find one.

I'm running the kitchen at the Red Nose District this year.

I'm no fashion guru, but if you're having a rainbow striped kilt/skirt, a similarly coloured or bright vest would probably go nicely with it.

Combat boots are essential.

Kim wears her combat boots out there all the time, and they're fine. Just make sure you have a good pair of socks on to soak up the sweat.
