i've searched through the old threads and have not found any that clearly explain what anti spin is, if anyone could explain it or redirect me to a thread it would greatly appreciated

To do antispin flowers- move your arms forward as if you were swimming freestyle. However, the glowsticks should be rotating backwards as if you were doing reverse.

For reverse antispin flowers- Your arms are rotating backwards like reverse or backstroke, but the glowsticks are rotating foward.

Hope that helps.

That's anti spin... Your arms going one way and the poi going the other.

I understand the concept, but... well... How?! Arms forwards while poi backwards... If I go out and try this later, will it make more sense? It sounds really hard to do! Any tips on how to pull it off?

It feels really clumsy at first, try it with one poi...keep your body facing forward. and your arms straight. Keep your planes straight, don't do an artistic impression of a satellite dish.

Also try arms backwards with poi forwards...good luck

The artistic impression of a satellite dish? that's just me being a smart ass, what I meant was * pay attention to your planes* keep them flat.

Nice big flat circles This is where I see most people blow this pattern, their planes go all strange, mostly because their arms are not moving in a big circle, more like a half circle when the poi is in front of their body, and when the poi gets behind,,,,,that's when the problems happen. There's a * weak spot* back there and working with one poi will help strengthen it.

Here's a question... where exactly in At The Bottom Of A Cliff are antispins? I'm still not sure exactly which move they are...

Hey Shawn. Judging from your old vids im sure you would be able to do them, or atleast just learn them straight off.

Its pretty much an isolation, im guessing iso's with yoyo would be pretty tricky so ill just talk about poi.

If you say, just spin 1 poi in you right hand in a forward motion and isolate it really tight, it will get to a poi'nt when it should feel like its floating. At that point (or at any point really) you can move your hand in the reverse motion (spinning backwards) while the poi keeps going forward. (fig 8 is specially good for understanding the movement)

I think u got that point already huh?

Usually i "flip" it so it starts spining forward and immediatly move my hand backwards. Anyway, thats the most basic description i can give, like others have said its often done better in a flower or a weave, its not that hard, as long as you have solid flowers to begin with.

Once you nail the basic's the move is actually performed without isolation, the iso is just the "breeding ground" for ideas and motion.

If you still have trouble with it PM me an ill go and shoot a clip an send it to you.

Mostly its a growing field, it sort of messes with the physics of poi and movement. Which is why there is alot of debate going on about anti spin, because its soooo vast and challenging.

Good luck

can anyone help?? if im doing a fwd weave with arms open on the RHS, i get that my right hand will then come across under my left but then does the RH poi come then come up on the inside of my right arm (buzzsaw-ish) or on the outside of my right arm???? (and is this even remotely the right path!?!)

inpsydout - the right poi follows over to the lhs and into into a buzzsaw type plane on the inside of the left arm.

with the left arm still spinning outside, the arms swap which is on top and then the left hand transitions over to the rhs under the right arm.

hope that helps (and sorry we never got to play on sunday - when you were playing, i was lying in a hammock and then later, when i was playing, you were sitting in a car)

wait a minute..

Cole.. you dont make me look silly unless you are standing next to me

PyroWill - 21/05/05 03:33 PM - "hmph! im going to think of a witty retort and return! "

Coleman - 23/05/05 04:21 PM - "retorts become slightly less witty when they take four days to think up will... "

That still looks like 2 days to me
Not 4
but it is 4 days now.
and not then

i never said "it has been four days already, how long does it take to think up a witty retort?"

i referred to the actual retort which was yet to be made and hence, i made a prediction that it would take four days from the time that my comment was made before will came up with said retort.

i added that when (and if) he did, it would seem less witty because of the time delay between my comment and his retort to it.

in fact, even if there had been a comeback, it would almost not qualify as a retort since 'retort' is defined as "a quick incisive reply, especially one that turns the first speaker's words to his or her own disadvantage".

that's my argument and i'm sticking to it
