When you spin backwards your arms cross under. The minute you switch to crossing over arm you'll be back in forwards.

Another good thing that helps me is to be mindful of the direction they're spinning in. I know that sound obvious! But if I spin backwards I concentrate on the wall behind me and it help me not only stay in the right direction but especially later for turning and behind the back moves.

i've always had more success with recording and reviewing my spins than i have watching myself in a mirror. for me it's easier to review it in full and then go back and try again than to watch the mirror while i'm trying to do it, most of the time at least. something to try if you don't already. ]]>

			ditto to bob's post.

i might also suggest trying out some basic throws. you may or may not like them, but when i was at a similar point in my practice they gave a breath of fresh air and motivation. they also really helped with my coordination and control.]]>

Light up your poi after dipping, place them on the ground and drag/spin them decently fast in a circle around you on the ground.

I've only ever seen that done with round poi, because the dragging makes the poi head spin so that you get something similar to a staff burn off. The guy who showed me how to do them called them crop circles, but I don't have much experience doing it because where I burn, crop circles aren't allowed because they damage the grass.]]>

Yeah you're good. You're going to be a good poi'er if you stick with it.. you will, its' so addictive :)

You'd benefit from learning how to switch from butterfly to weave. Its really easy, when you in butterfly allow one poi to hit your arm, or your hip, or even kick up your heal. This reverses the direction so both poi will then be in weave.

You can also stop them in midair, look up Stalls, you'll love them ;)

One video that really helped me positioning myself and the poi was this sup]]>

Could anyone recommend a poi head that the flames burn big and bright under daylight/bright sun? I am performing at a theme park for the summer doing 4 sets. Since I start at 5:15 I feel my first two sets you cannot see the fire as well as my last two sets. :O( Any suggestions?? ]]>
