no not hula hoops. Regular glowsticks with a shoelace. I don't know how to tie em around my hand to get a better grip and I thought the hoops they have for sale on here could connect somehow with the shoe lace to get the spinning process smoother. So you have any ideas?

Could anyone make me a list of poi moves by difficulty/understanding?

Everybody is going to find different things difficult, so there's no way a list like that could work -- for example, one could find a reverse butterfly hard to do but a five-beat weave simple.

However, I've got one thing for you. Glowsticking.com has a fairly comprehensive list of moves for glowstringers, which is a little bit different, but it seems to progress from beginners to advanced. Here's the link.

Loving the enthusiasm! :D That's awesome that you have a festival to set your sights on and prepare for. Do you have particular patterns/moves mapped out on your chart for each week or is it a any 1 per week deal? You're going to kill it at that festie! :D

Hallo, my new Ninja LED Poi just arrived. I just played for about half an hour with them and they are great. Except for the double noose. I tried ever grip but the nooses semm to be to short. While spinning the bearing hurts my nuckles and the nooses made me blisters. I dont see the pros about the double noose.

For this technique the loop seems to be to short, by the way I got kind of small Fingers.

Tips/Hints:
To get double loop handles to grip the fingers more securely place fingers th

It gets rather limiting in what you can do with just one hand and poi unless he is really, really patient.

Is a staff out of the question? He could do contact staff without too much hassle and it will help with learning meteor. (which is essentially a 1 handed poi type thing)

The people in the beginner's staff section could help more. ;)

That said, if you get the broomstick down to about shoulder height, and concentrate the weight on the ends, it seems to work for most people. Not sure about 8 year olds, but it holds for most people it seems. And no need to buy anything yet (I think most people make their own staves anyway).

If you really had to buy something, look at getting a one of a set of doubles, since those are usually shorter.
