The New Zealand Koru or fern frond, is a symbol of growth, and new beginnings. This very traditional carved bone koru provides the gift of luck and strength for anyone undertaking a new beginning.

THe Koru is a very traditional motif which is often incorporated into many different Maori carvings. It's symbolism of the fern frond as it opens bringing new life and purity, also represents peace, tranquility and spirituality, along with a strong sense of regrowth or new beginnings. It is also often associated with nurturing so when interlocked with other motifs, is frequently used to represent the strength and purity of a loving relationship or family. It therefore makes a great gift for almost anyone, but especially people who wish to start over or expand their goals.

The Maori people believed that the spirit of the wearer merged into the bone and this was evidenced by the change in color with time when worn against the skin. These items were thus given as gifts to protect and give strength to the wearer.
