Prior to my purchasing the monkey fist rope wicks, I made my own wicks of a metal core with a cotton wrap soaked in fuel. The monkey fists burned longer and more evenly, and I believe they will outlast any hand made wicks. I'd recommend these to anyone wanting to spin fire.

Might go for the larger ones next if I can handle the weight. I'm just 5'2" and 100 lbs. so it will take some doing!

This will be my 2nd set of monkey fist poi. The first set were the best fire poi I ever swung. They match the size and weight of the beaming poi. I thought they were the best, until I get these new ones, the solid eyebolt, is 10 times better than the steel cord on the old set. Leave it to HOP to make the best even better :)

I absolutely love this particular style of wick--its shape, its weight, its burn time, its flaming-comet appearance--everything! It's my default wick of choice whenever I spin. Also, all of the people whom I've introduced to fire poi have chosen these monkey fists as their weapon-of-choice. Sturdily constructed and a bit weighty, these wicks are probably not for the complete novice, but with even a little bit of experience, these wicks are suitable for most. I highly recommend them to fire spinners of all stripes and creeds!
