Detachable tails mean that its easy to practise new moves without the tails, and then add the tails for the full effect.

However, I don't regard them as inferior in any way - clearly durable, colourful, and a pleasure to swing, even for an absolute beginner like myself. My cats weren't too impressed though - one look and they cleared off until the nasty, whirry, spinning things went away.

Even thought they are reccomended for experienced users only, I would say they can still be enjoyed by novices provided you don't try anything too crazy. I got a couple of photos taken the first night I used these and even simple moves look amazing as the LEDs really give off an incredible show when you get into it.
I bought some lighter, softer ones to practice with as well as these, so I don't risk too many bruises from experimenting. I'd reccomend other users consider doing the same.
Definitely worth the investment for any beginners looking to take poi to the next level. HAVE FUN!
